Fortunate am I to have banana trees growing in my yard! I watch as the leaves unfold, layer-upon-layer, to reveal the fruit. The curling of these flower leaves reminds me of scrolls; hence, the title of this piece. These are bananas that are newly starting to form. And if you’ve ever seen how these bananas grow, you’d think they were upside down. Nature has a way of surprising us every day if we take the time to see. That’s what art is to me – a way of seeing.
