Description
In an effort to work large I went for it with this piece. It is my largest piece to date other than mural paintings I’ve painted. This is a painting of peace and beauty. It was my refuge while the rest of the world was raging. Working on it gave me comfort. The outside world stayed outside my studio walls but I kept the windows open to hear the wind and the birds. I started this painting knowing there would be water and light reflection because that is what brings solace to my heart. I did not know until I began drawing with my paintbrush what subject would come forth. The water lilies emerge from muddy waters untainted and symbolize purity, rebirth, enlightenment, and beauty. I hope the viewer feels the same peace it brought me while painting it.
