I have been experimenting with some pastel abstracts lately. I love painting rocks, but what is a rock. It’s smooth, it’s cool, it’s hard. That’s what I tried to capture in this painting. Turquoise is the dominant color in the piece with a small amount of it’s opposite color, red-orange, to give that little bit of intentional contradiction. The directional flow of the line above reaching to the upper right corner symbolizes optimism.
