Description
Atropa Belladonna, also known as Angel’s Trumpet, is a flower found in Hawaii. It has some medicinal uses, but is also known to be deadly.
The belladonna name derives from the use of eye drops made from the plants that prevent constriction of the pupils (mydriasis), back when the size of a woman’s pupils was a sign of beauty and arousal.
This particular species is located just up the street from me near Makani Gardens. As I was passing by, the light was at the perfect angle, so I got out of the car and snapped a few photos with my cell phone to use as references. Strike when the iron’s hot! And this was a particularly hot day. You may also see this flower in different colors, such as white and yellow.
